PSATs are being administered during the school day tomorrow, Wednesday, October 11th, in the gym and various locations throughout the building. The west half of the front hallway, room 175, 177, and 179, and the hallway outside the gymnasium are off limits A-C periods to students not testing. The daily schedule has been adjusted slightly, with 5 minutes added to both B and C periods and 5 minutes taken away from E and G periods - please see the adjusted schedule posted in classrooms. D period lunch will begin at 11:00.
For students who are taking the PSAT, please check the board in the main lobby for your testing room. You must report there directly tomorrow morning. Please get a good night's rest tonight and eat breakfast tomorrow morning. Remember to bring the following to the test:
-two number 2 pencils
-a four function or scientific calculator
-your ID
We will have pencils but no calculators to loan you for the test. Calculators on a phone are prohibited.
If you have been approved for extended time, please note that you will miss the lunch period. Please bring food that you can eat during your 5 minute breaks or after testing is complete.
ARHS in partnership with Western Mass Hurricane Relief for Puerto Rico will be collecting donations at all lunches this week. Please help #FillTheBoot for Puerto Rico.
I.D.'s for 9th graders will be distributed at lunch today, Tuesday, Oct. 10th, 2017.
What do you get if you divide a pumpkin’s circumference by its diameter? --Pumpkin Pi Halloween Dance at ARHS. Friday, October 20th, 7-10 PM. Games, costume contest, DANCING!!!!!!!!! Tickets available at lunch. $3 at lunch/$5 at the door.
The Annual Performing Arts Gala is this Wednesday Oct. 11 from 6:30-9:00. This is a great opportunity to see student talent and effort at work. Four stages with music, theater, and dance alive with works in progress by the various ensembles. It's totally free and a totally fantastic time!
"We're excited to have our Chef Sam back with us today during lunch. Chef Sam will be cooking and sampling a new recipe today called "Tacos al Pastor" at all 3 lunches. This dish is a fusion of cuisines, combining the flavors of Central Mexico with Middle Eastern shawarma. It is all at once tangy, sweet and spicy; and the lime crema adds a cooling burst of citrus! Enjoy!"
Come to two after-school training meetings for those interested in doing layout and design for ARHS's school newspaper, The Graphic--in room 187 (tech hallway)--Tuesday October 10, from 2:45-4 and Thursday, October 12, from 2:45-4. We don't write the articles, but we DO copy-edit and spend time putting together the newspaper using a professional publishing program. We also maintain the web site. It's for detail-oriented people and word and design-lovers! If you don't play three sports and can stay after school some days until 4 p.m. making the news come to life, pay us a visit. See Ms Barber-Just in room 175 with questions or email her at barber-justs@arps.org.
Don't forget to acknowledge your peers for being positive members of the ARHS community! Fill out a norm form and submit it in the norm form box outside the cafeteria. Be sure to write clearly and put your name on the back of the form. Free Ticket Friday is coming up and we have more prizes to give away to members of the community who embrace diversity and are supportive, accountable, inclusive, and upstanding.
