Congratulations to Leija Helling and Akshat Dhanker (ARHS grad) who recently won NESPA (New England Scholastic Press Association) journalism awards in a special "Localizing Contest"--Leija for her piece on the girls' volleyball players "taking a knee" during the national anthem, and Akshat for his piece on Tom Fricke's election to the Amherst Charter Commission! 


The Theater Company invites all interested students to attend our meeting for The Ghostlight Project, a national alliance of nearly 1000 professional and non-professional theaters, focusing on how we can work to create safe and inclusive spaces for all. Everyone is welcome.  We will meet after school on stage.

Schools for Africa will meet after school on Thursday in room 147. We will discuss and hand out forms for popcorn sales and start planning our next fundraiser. There will be snacks.


Bake Sale Wednesday after school !  Come eat delicious things while supporting the band program.


Earth Guardians is a global community of teens that work towards bringing awareness to climate change and many other problems that our world faces. Our generation is going to inherit the earth, and it is our duty to make sure that the world we inherit is healthy so that it can support us and all of our future endeavors. Interested in joining us? Our first meeting will take place on January 31st in room 314 from 3:00 to 4:00.


The After - School Snack Program begins this week :
February 1 - March 31st.
The program will be Monday - Friday - 2:30 - 3:00 in the H.S. Cafeteria.
The Offerings and Costs are:
Sandwich, Wrap, Salad - $1.50 (Turkey, ham, vegetarian, sun butter and jelly)
Fruit - .60
Milk -  .60
Bottle Water - $1.00



The musical is ramping up on the costumes and makeup front and we welcome you to join us!  If you'd are interested in helping with makeup and hair with the show, please come to an afterschool meeting this Tuesday(today).  Want to help us with costumes?  Come to our meeting this Wednesday.  Both meetings start at 3:00 in the auditorium.  No experience necessary!

Seniors - The deadline for the BIG Y scholarship is February 1st. We have copies of the application in Guidance.  This is a really easy one to enter - bring  your materials to the Guidance office and we will add add your unofficial transcript and letters of recommendation and mail it for you.

It's for part time work at a cleaners after school and on Saturdays.

Attention students who are taking the SAT on SaturdayBe sure to take your admission ticket, photo ID, NO. 2 pencils and an approved calculator.  Be sure to check the location of the test on your ticket and get there by 7:45 AM at the latest.  Get a good night's sleep the night before and bring a snack and water to have during the breaks. If you get sick or need to cancel, contact Customer Service at the College Board.

Seniors - if you need a transcript for a scholarship, go into your Naviance account, click on the transcripts link on the left, select "request transcripts for scholarships or athletics" and put the information in there.
That's the only way we can see your request.

Emails went out to your school email if you have met the eligibility requirement to apply for membership in the National Honor SocietyYou are invited to submit an application to be a 2016-17 ARHS NHS Member. The ARHS Robert Frost Chapter of this organization recognizes students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher and demonstrate excellence in the areas of leadership, character, and service.  

The email you received  contains a classroom code to join the ARHS  NHS Google Classroom.  If you would like to apply for membership to the NHS for this school year, all the information can be found in this classroom. 

NHS meetings are the first Thursday of each month in Room 117 @ 3 p.m. sharp.

Stop by the Writing Center to get support on all your final papers - whether you're planning an outline, nailing your topic sentences, or polishing your last draft, the Writing Center is here to help you succeed. Make an appointment online or drop by during the school day, or after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Round Two of the PGO Student Intiated Grants

Again this year, the ARHS Parent Guardian Organization is awarding grants of up to $1,000 to students to implement creative and innovative ideas that will benefit the ARHScommunity.  Follow the link here or under Clubs on the ARHS website.
