Model UN will convene in room 323 at 3 pm on Thursday to look at recent executive actions from an international law perspective - do they violate the Geneva convention?  Additionally, all delegates who wish to attend the UMass conference should bring their checks ASAP to reserve their spot.

Swing by the bake sale on Friday for a Glazed Doughnut or a home-made delicacy made by your 2019 classmates.  YUMMM!!!


Come dance the blues away at Winterfest Dance this Friday, Feb.3  from 7-10. Tickets for sale at lunch for $5 and $7 at the door.  Dress semi-fancy.  More fun that way!


The Outing Club is running a series of Winter Trips! The first trip is a half-day hike to Mt. Toby this Sat., Feb. 4th. See Mr. Kropf in Room 225 for permission slips and more info

The Theater Company invites all interested students to attend our meeting for The Ghostlight Project, a national alliance of nearly 1000 professional and non-professional theaters, focusing on how we can work to create safe and inclusive spaces for all. Everyone is welcome.  We will meet after school on stage.


Got good ideas, but need funding to make them happen?  The PGO offers grants up to $1000 for your student-initiated projects.  The deadline for spring grants is this Friday February 3rd. You can find the application on the clubs page of the ARHS website.

The Black Sheep will be hosting a free community dinner on the first Monday of every month, beginning on February 6th, at 6:30 pm.  There will be a special guest at each dinner to talk about the current political climate and what they are doing about it.  On Feb. 6th the guest is attorney John Bonifaz who has fought for voting rights for two decades and is the president of the organization "Free Speech for People". All are welcome. Future dinner guests include Congressman Jim McGovern and attorney Bill Newman from the A.C.L.U. Seats are limited. Guests are encourage to arrive early

Congratulations to Leija Helling and Akshat Dhanker (ARHS grad) who recently won NESPA (New England Scholastic Press Association) journalism awards in a special "Localizing Contest"--Leija for her piece on the girls' volleyball players "taking a knee" during the national anthem, and Akshat for his piece on Tom Fricke's election to the Amherst Charter Commission!

Our generation is going to inherit the earth, and it is our duty to make sure that the world we inherit is healthy so that it can support us and all of our future endeavors. Interested in joining us? Our first meeting will take place on January 31st in room 314 from 3:00 to 4:00.

The Outing Club will be sponsoring a day hike to the summit of Mount Toby on Saturday, Feb. 4th.  To go on the White Mountains overnight in March, you will need to go on one of the winter dayhikes! Also in March, there will be a Wilderness First Aid training offered through the SOLO school of wilderness medicine. The cost of this training will be reduced for ARHS students. See the Outing Club bulletin board or speak to Mr. Kropf if you are interested in these events.

More Congratulations to Catalina Yang!  Her poem "Trust the Horse" has been judged the overall New England winner in this year's CANE Writing Contest.  Catalina will read her poem in March at the annual banquet of the Classical Association of New England.


There is a new ALP/Community Service opportunity available for students during some directed studies/lunches.  For more information see Connie Cappellli in the guidance office. 

Model UN meets this Thursday(today) at 3 pm in Room 323. We will learn how to write resolutions, and take our club photo. Be there or be square!
