  • Women's Rights Club is collecting stories of sexual or verbal harassment that students at ARHS have experienced within our community. To emphasize the incredible importance of consent and anti-harassment education, and to show that Amherst is not exempt from issues of sexual harassment, we will use these stories in our Consent 101 video that will be shown in classes during late May.

These stories will be completely anonymous (no emails collected), and can range from cat-calling and crude comments to detailed, personal experiences, as much as you're comfortable. Fill out the anonymous form here: https://forms.gle/SxKQhfi9EFbGnfSc9
  • The Deadline for the Anti-Racist Art Project submission has been extended to Friday, May 7th. Please do not hesitate to contact Erin Edinson (edinsone1@arps.org) with any questions you may. We encourage any and all student engagement and want to remind that we are accepting both artwork and photography for this project!

  • Current 10th and 11th grade students interested in pursuing full-time Dual Enrollment, meaning taking all of their classes at Greenfield or Holyoke Community College and earning ARHS and community college credits simultaneously, must contact their caseload counselor to discuss next steps soon. The process is relatively simple but takes a few weeks and the deadline to complete the FULL process is May 31st. Therefore, if you are interested, discuss this with parents or guardians first since families need to pay for the classes and provide their own transportation. If this sounds like the right fit for you, contact your counselor soon.

Interested in taking one free class at HCC in the fall 2021?  Holyoke Community College is offering a free course to students taking their first ever class at HCC. Discuss this at home and then with your counselor during your individual counselor registration meeting in May. Counselors will contact you when it is your scheduled time to meet, but please be assured that every 9-11 grade student already has a designated time put aside for them to review any class registration questions for next year. You will be notified the day of your meeting so stay tuned!

  • Its Wellness Wednesday

    Today's tip: Take Five!

Taking brief breaks can help boost our productivity, our motivation and energy! Particularly when you are working on a task that is taxing, causing anxiety or stress. Working longer, harder and without breaks can increase restlessness, irritability and actually make things less efficient .
We all have our own rhythms and styles, but adding in brief breaks keep things moving smoother for you!. Does this fit for you or not? Come up with a list of a few things you could do during a brief 5 minute break from school work (both in school and at home) and try them out for a week and see for yourself!
Check out this article if you are interested in learning more about the science of taking breaks and its impact on us!

  • Ms. Upchurch is looking for students interested in participating in our 1 semester Adapted PE Class next school year ‘21-’22!

New friends, new opportunities, and stronger relationships! If interested, complete the attached Google Form by Wednesday 4/28!

  • If you play or have ever played a band instrument and are interested in playing in Wind Ensemble next year (and would not have already been in it this year - you're already in!), email Ms. Nye for details at nyek@arps.org
If you play trumpet, saxophone, trombone, bass, or piano - consider trying out jazz band next year! Email Ms. Nye for details at nyek@arps.org

Check out our amazing school newspaper, The Graphic--produced by students in Journalistic Writing class--to learn about stopping Asian Hate, our permanent principal Mr. Sadiq; student voices on mental health, vaccines, virtual school, MCAS, sports recruiting, and working during a pandemic, and tons of other features and club news. It's a great way to spend your lunch break. Also, please share with family, so they can learn about what's happening at our school! You can find The Graphic at thegraphic.arps.org and it's also permanently housed under the "ABOUT" tab on the ARHS website.

  • Its Wellness Wednesday!
Today’s Wellness Wednesday tip is pretty simple:

    DRINK. MORE. WATER.
Our body lives off H2O and staying hydrated is a great way to stay healthy!
The rough estimate on how much water a person should drink in a given day is ½ an ounce to a 1 ounce per pound one weighs. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink approximately 75 to 150 ounces of water a day. Staying hydrated not only improves and re-hydrates your body but also flushes out toxins, improves metabolism, increases brain power, and boosts your immune system. So WATER you waiting for? Grab a glass of H20 and hydrate!
