IMPORTANT MCAS ANNOUNCEMENT:

If you were scheduled to take MCAS last week and missed any testing session, please see Mrs. Tracy in room 309 TODAY regarding make-up dates and locations.

Students who are interested in taking a college class next year, while still in high school, will need to apply to do so.  An information session is being held immediately after school on MONDAY, APRIL 9th in Room 112.  Applications will be available at that meeting and are due on Friday of that week (just before the break).

The sands of change in Middle Eastern foreign policy are shifting so rapidly today it can be difficult to keep up with the Trump Administration’s approach in this critical region and hold our government accountable. This Wednesday, April 4th, join Critical Connections in a conversation with two leading experts, Professors David Mednicoff and Osamah Khalil as they discuss trends in Middle Eastern foreign policy right now. Talk to your social studies teacher about extra credit for attending this event. Free and open to the public.

Latina or Latino writers in 11th or 12th grade - The Daniel Sonntag Creative Writing Contest was established in honor of a young man who went to ARHS but was unable to graduate due to a tragic car accident.  Submit any poem, play, essay or other creative writing to the Guidance office by May 1st. The award is $300.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute  is inviting talented junior girls to participate in Design Your Future Day on Sunday, April 22 at RPI's campus in Troy, NY. This is to explore possible college majors in STEM through hands on workshops and by engaging with RPI undergraduates majoring in STEM fields.  This program is free to the high school junior girls and their parents/guardians who attend.
There are applications in Guidance - first 100 applications received by them are taken.

Amherst College Dining Services is now hiring for various jobs during Commencement & Reunion, May 18 - May 27.  
If you are interested in applying, pick up an information packet in the Guidance Office which will tell you how to apply on line.  
There is a "Casual Worker Scheduling Document" to fill out and return to Amherst College ASAP. 
It's a fun way to earn some extra money for a few weeks. 
You must be age 16 or older by your first day of employment.

IMPORTANT MCAS INFORMATION:  MCAS English Language Arts (ELA) tests will be given to all 10th grade students tomorrowWednesday and Thursday.  All students participating in testing should report to school at the regular 7:45 a.m. starting time on those days.  This includes all non-10th grade students who have been scheduled to participate.

TuesdayWednesday and Thursday will be late arrival days for students not participating in MCAS.  School will begin at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday.

Testing Room assignments will be posted on the bulletin board in the front lobby today.  All students should report to their assigned testing room by 7:45 a.m. tomorrow morning.  You will not have access to your locker during testing time, but may bring water and a snack to have during break.  You may also bring a book to read or school work in a subject area (other than the one in which you are testing) to work on after you have completed and handed in your test.  Remember: be sure to get a good night’s rest, and eat a healthy breakfast each morning!  Also, staff and students will have no access to the 3rd floor on TuesdayWednesday, or Thursday mornings after 7:30 a.m. due to MCAS testing.  Please make sure you have everything you need from your locker by the end of the day today or by 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday

Students, the parking lot is overflowing with vehicles without parking permits so unfortunately we will begin towing this week. Retrieving a towed vehicle will cost approximately $125.
