  • Amherst Girls Basketball Organizational meeting will be thisThursday, October 3, 2019 at 6 pm at the High School.
  • Students interested in serving on a newly-formed Student Advisory Council should attend an informational meeting on Thursday, October 3rd at 2:45 in room 239.  The Student Advisory Council will meet monthly with school administrators to discuss school policies and issues that affect our school community.  We need representatives from all grade levels.  If you have questions, please see Mr. Thompson or Ms. Haygood.

  • Today is the LAST DAY for Fall Theater Company Auditions!  Stop by after school for a 5-minute, low-stress audition for two productions going up in November and December.  There's lots of schedule flexibility, so athletes and others with busy lives after school can be involved.  No preparation or experience needed - and we'll give you cookies.  Actually.  See Mr. Bechtold for questions of any shape or size.

  • Not school sponsoredCritical Connections and Karuna Center for Peacebuilding are co-convening the discussion series "Understanding the Many Dimensions of White Identity: Politics, Power, and Prejudice," to explore the history, prevalence, and resurgence of political action based in white identity. This series will examine how white identity has the power to shape violent movements, as well as the root causes, fears, and prejudices that allow white supremacist ideology to exist in its less visible dimensions.     -       Monday is colors day.  Each class is wear color:9th grade - maroon, 10th grade-black, 11th grade-white, 12th grade rainbow.

    -       Tuesday is Fancy Day - please dress up - no sweats or tshirts (especially because it is also school picture day)

    -       Wednesday is International Day - Wear two colors that represent a country of your choice OR cultural dress

    -       Thursday is jersey day - Wear a jersey with your favorite team name, brand name or symbol

    -       Friday is Hurricane day - Wear maroon AND white

  • The next round of Theater Company AUDITIONS are next Monday and Tuesday after school - and we want you there!  Come try out for Briefs - our evening of contemporary 10-minute plays going up in November and/or Shakespeare's over-the-top comedy, Twelfth Night, going up in December.  Guess how much experience you need: none!  Additional info is available on the auditorium doors.  We will also offer an optional AUDITION WORKSHOP - open to all - to offer you tips and strategies for a successful audition at ARHS and beyond.  If you're nervous about auditioning but secretly would love to be in a play, consider this a special invitation to come by!  We'll meet this Friday, after school, until 3:45.  We believe the auditions should be low-stress and should always involve cookies.  Come along and be a part of it all.  See Mr. Bechtold for questions.
