  • National Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 and ends on October 15. In honor a Fun Fact about Hispanic Heritage will be placed in the Afternoon Announcements.. We will also be sharing announcements submitted by students about influential Latinx People.
    • Today's Fact-                                                                                                Americans with origins in Cuba, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Colombia, and Honduras each have a population of roughly 1 million or more as of 2018.
  • Attendance Tip of the Day #3

Some absences can be excused and STILL count towards potentially losing credit for a class. Some examples of excused absences that STILL count towards potentially losing credit: Short-term student illness (less than 5 days), Early dismissals, Medical appointment, Behind the wheel driver’s test
  • Its Wellness Wednesday

Today's Tip: Watch out for Avoidance Coping!

We've all done it! A project, a task or even a tough conversation that causes some stress, seems too BIG or overwhelming to break down or tackle. So instead, we may put our energies elsewhere or procrastinate in the hopes that the stress will go away.
    IT DOESN'T!!
Avoidance behaviors don't solve the problem and are less effective than more proactive strategies that could potentially minimize stress in the future.

How can we make the shift?
-Recognize when you may be doing this.
-Try active coping strategies.. which take small steps towards the thing you may be avoiding.
-Ask for help! Find someone in your life you you trust and share your intention to work on breaking down avoidant coping... one step at a time!

  • National Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 and ends on October 15. In honor a Fun Fact about Hispanic Heritage will be placed in the Afternoon Announcements.. We will also be sharing announcements submitted by students about influential Latinx People.
    • Today's Fact-                                                                                                 Americans of Mexican origin account for more than 60 percent (37 million people) of the nation’s overall Hispanic population as of 2018, per Pew Research Center. The next largest group are Americans of Puerto Rican origin with 5.8 million people.
  • Attendance Tip of the Day #2-

Coming to class is the #1 most important thing you can do to improve your grades and chances of success after high school. Three (3) tardies are equal to one absence. A tardy is less than 20 minutes late to class. When you have more than 9 absences for a semester course and 6 absences for a quarter class it can result in losing credit for the class. To give an example, you may arrive at class 2 minutes late 27 times in a semester.  Those two minutes now mean you have reached the 9 absence limit.

  • Seniors who are enrolled in honors English classes in second semester must complete the honors project if they apply to college with honors English on their transcript.
