Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute  is inviting talented junior girls to participate in Design Your Future Day on Sunday, April 22 at RPI's campus in Troy, NY. This is to explore possible college majors in STEM through hands on workshops and by engaging with RPI undergraduates majoring in STEM fields.  This program is free to the high school junior girls and their parents/guardians who attend.
There are applications in Guidance - first 100 applications received by them are taken.

Amherst College Dining Services is now hiring for various jobs during Commencement & Reunion, May 18 - May 27.

It's a fun way to earn some extra money for a few weeks.

IMPORTANT MCAS INFORMATION:  MCAS English Language Arts (ELA) tests will be given to all 10th grade students tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday.  All students participating in testing should report to school at the regular 7:45 a.m. starting time on those days.  This includes all non-10th grade students who have been scheduled to participate.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be late arrival days for students not participating in MCAS.  School will begin at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday.

Testing Room assignments will be posted on the bulletin board in the front lobby today.  All students should report to their assigned testing room by 7:45 a.m. tomorrow morning.  You will not have access to your locker during testing time, but may bring water and a snack to have during break.  You may also bring a book to read or school work in a subject area (other than the one in which you are testing) to work on after you have completed and handed in your test.  Remember: be sure to get a good night’s rest, and eat a healthy breakfast each morning!  Also, staff and students will have no access to the 3rd floor on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday mornings after 7:30 a.m. due to MCAS testing.  Please make sure you have everything you need from your locker by the end of the day today or by 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Latina or Latino writers in 11th or 12th grade - The Daniel Sonntag Creative Writing Contest was established in honor of a young man who went to ARHS but was unable to graduate due to a tragic car accident.  Submit any poem, play, essay or other creative writing to the Guidance office by May 1st. The award is $300.

Greenfield Savings Bank is sponsoring an event at the Hitchcock Center to help replant their exterior areas. We would like to invite students from ARHS and their families and siblings to work alongside of us on two different community work days . The dates are March 31, Saturday and April 22nd Sunday from 12-3pm.  There  will be a drawing to give away 4 family memberships to the Hitchcock Center. We will provide sandwiches and water and hats for the students to wear.

Attention Seniors! GPA'S have been recalculated with the recent grades.  Emails went out to your school email if you have met the eligibility requirement to apply for membership in the National Honor Society for the remainder of the year. You are invited to submit an application to be a 2017-18 ARHS NHS Member. The ARHS Robert Frost Chapter of this organization recognizes students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher and demonstrate excellence in the areas of leadership, character, and service.  

The email you received  contains a classroom code to join the ARHS  NHS Google Classroom.  If you would like to apply for membership to the NHS for this school year, all the information can be found in this classroom. 

Once accepted, after the application process, you can attend  the NHS meetings which are held on the first Thursday of each month in Room 117 @ 3 p.m. sharp.

Students, the parking lot is overflowing with vehicles without parking permits so unfortunately we will begin towing this week. Retrieving a towed vehicle will cost approximately $125. Please submit Parking Permit Applications at the Deans Office, room 168.

POCU is sponsoring a Spring Food Drive to benefit the Amherst Survival Center. Please donate dry or canned food items, hygiene products and/or diapers. Thanks in advance for your generosity.

Do you like working with children and being outside? Farm and Garden Camp in Amherst is looking for Counselors in Training to work at their fun and exciting Farm and Garden camp this summer. This is a paid position for students ages 15-18. Information on the positions and how to apply can be found in the guidance office Job Book next to Ms. Cappelli's desk.
