  • Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day is Wednesday. Please support the POCU Bake Sale after school.
  • Come to Literary Club on Monday, January 6th for a lot of literary fun and snacks! It'll be at 2:30 in Mr. Despres' room (174), and there will be plenty of time to make it to sports or theater afterwards.
  • It is time to sign-up for the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) that takes place Thursday, January 30th.  For more details, visit https://artofproblemsolving.com/wiki/index.php?title=American_Mathematics_Competitions. To sign-up see your math teacher or come to the math office room 221.  The deadline for signing-up is Friday, January 10th.  There are a limited number of slots so first come, first serve.   There will be study sessions held on Tuesdays starting January 7th in room 301. 
  • Are you interested in getting your writing published? Whether it's an essay, a short story, a poem, or any other piece of writing, the Minks editors would love to receive your work! Whether it was written for school or just your personal work, all student submissions are accepted! Email your writing to minks@arps.org, or share it with minks@arps.org on Google Docs.
  • Attention all Spring Awakening cast and crew - if you plan on being involved in the musical in any capacity, please attend our production kickoff meeting TODAY from 3:00-3:45 in the auditorium.  If you'd like to be involved on stage or off but haven't signed up, come as well!  See Mr. Bechtold or Mr. Fruth for questions.
  • Scholarship Opportunity Class of 2021 & 2022 Students with a GPA of 2.5-4.0 GPA The Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to Commonwealth of Massachusetts students who demonstrate academic promise and aspirations for higher education.  This is an extremely competitive scholarship that requires significant extracurricular and personal accomplishments, having overcome significant obstacles, two teacher recommendations, a school counselor recommendation and an essay. Due February 7th.   Applicants must also demonstrate hardships/obstacles overcome and accomplishments in the following areas: 1) Special Skills 2) Leadership Qualities 3) Relative Maturity 4) Personal Difficulties 5) Motivation 6) Enthusiasm 7) Capacity for Growth 8) Academic Promise 9) Community Outreach and Involvement.

         You MUST attend an information session for a recommendation on Thursday, January                   9th at  7:15 am or 2:25pm, or Monday, January 13th at 2:30pm apply. Sign up in the                       Guidance & Counseling Office with Ms. Garrity.

      Get professional assistance from area college financial aid reps  to complete your FAFSA. Check your financial aid deadlines for your schools, they are coming up. Please fill the house     and make sure you're eligible for both need and merit based financial aid (note that some local   scholarships require FAFSA completion).

  •  TODAY, The Graphic staff will work on layout of its January issue! If you are a current member of the staff or you’d like to be, please join us in room 187 after school, starting at 2:45!                                                                                                                                             
  • The student advisory council will meet with Mr. Jones TODAY at 2:45 in room 239.  We'll be discussing student-read morning announcements and nominating a student representative to sit on the school committee for the spring semester.                                                                            
  • Amherst Leisure Services Community Theater presents Matilda: the Musical January 16-19 and 23-26 - and would love to see you there!  If you'd love to go but find the cost of tickets prohibitive, we'd love to offer means to go on our Access Night - January 17.  See Mr. Bechtold for free tickets for you and your family.  Signing up is easy, but there's a limited number available - so stop by soon.                                                                                                 
  • Seal of BiliteracyAre you bilingual? Are you studying a foreign language? Are you a heritage speaker? If so, come to our first informational meeting Tomorrow, January 7 in room 135 (Mr Pedro Mendez's room) during all lunches. This will be an opportunity for students to get some info about the program and apply. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award that recognizes high school graduates who speak, listen, read and write proficiently in another language in addition to English with a seal on the diploma. There will be free pizza! Contact Ms Cissé if you have any questions.
  • TODAY- An opportunity to hear about Columbia from an ARHS alumnus! At 2:30pm, come to Guidance to hear the student perspective about Columbia from 2016 ARHS graduate Sabina Solorzano. This event is aimed most at Sophomores and Juniors who might be considering Columbia in the future or who just want to hear from an alum about the process and what college is like compared to high school.
