  • It's Wellness Wednesday
    Use your 5 Senses
Last week, we highlighted the value of Cope Ahead Planning, particularly as we head into the December break.

Thinking ahead to things that may cause stress can help us use tools to manage these moments with more skill and success.
One tool to consider is using your 5 senses to ground you during tough moments.
What is grounding? Grounding is a practice to help you connect with the present moment when distress is heighted and you feel more disconnected.
Here is one activity to try:

LOOK: Find find things you can SEE
TOUCH: Find four things you can TOUCH
HEAR: Find three things you can LISTEN TO
SMELL: Find two things you can SMELL
TASTE: Find one thing you can TASTE

Try this a few times during moments of calm to get in some practice. Notice what its like for you and if it helps you reconnect with your present moment. Add this to your tool box!
