  • It's Wellness Wednesday!

    Today's tip: GET OUTSIDE!
Yep, predictable. You've heard it before. And, we're saying it again.
Why? Why is this such an important wellness tip?
Well, we are glad you asked!

Here are some of the benefits:
-Vitamin D: (AKA the sunshine vitamin) fights depression, strengthens immune systems, boosts metabolism (to name a few) Aim for 30 minutes a day to reap the benefits!
-Stress Relief: Yep, true story. Research shows that being outside in fresh air reduces the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol is important for us (Part of the body's natural stress response system- that alarm system we have to recognize and respond to danger) However, too much cortisol can negatively impact our brain, mood and digestive system, among other things

Here are a few more, likely more familiar reasons to get outside:
    -Inspires Awe and Creativity!
    -Increases Physical Activity
    -Connect with others
    -Counteracts screen time
-Animals, flowers, trees, clouds, etc etc etc...

We challenge you to get outside for at least 30 minutes today and every day! Build it into your routine. Each your lunch outside, maybe? Find a trail or path to walk on before or after school? What other ideas do you have?
When will you get outside TODAY??
