Attendance Tip of the Day #8
If a student is absent more than 3 times within a two-week period, teachers will email parent/guardian to say “I am concerned and want to check in”It's Wellness Wednesday!
This week our Wellness Wednesday Tip is: Take your emotional Temperature!
Last week’s Tip was to watch out for avoidance coping, which is when we procrastinate in the hopes that the stress will eventually go away. In order to ensure that we don’t always rely on avoidance coping and we begin to implement other coping skills, it is important and helpful to first take our own emotional temperatures.
It is important to first be able to recognize and check in with ourselves on how we are doing and feeling. We may make some observations and note how we are feeling and when these certain emotions occur, whether that’s feeling sad, frustrated, angry, nervous, tired, content, happy, or calm in different situations. Once you take your emotional temperature, and recognize the emotions you are feeling, then you can take some steps and use some coping skills to help support you in that moment with that specific feeling.
Below is a link to some coping skill suggestions based on different emotional temperatures you may feel:
