  • Attendance Tip of the Day #3

Some absences can be excused and STILL count towards potentially losing credit for a class. Some examples of excused absences that STILL count towards potentially losing credit: Short-term student illness (less than 5 days), Early dismissals, Medical appointment, Behind the wheel driver’s test
  • Its Wellness Wednesday

Today's Tip: Watch out for Avoidance Coping!

We've all done it! A project, a task or even a tough conversation that causes some stress, seems too BIG or overwhelming to break down or tackle. So instead, we may put our energies elsewhere or procrastinate in the hopes that the stress will go away.
    IT DOESN'T!!
Avoidance behaviors don't solve the problem and are less effective than more proactive strategies that could potentially minimize stress in the future.

How can we make the shift?
-Recognize when you may be doing this.
-Try active coping strategies.. which take small steps towards the thing you may be avoiding.
-Ask for help! Find someone in your life you you trust and share your intention to work on breaking down avoidant coping... one step at a time!
  • Seniors who are enrolled in honors English classes in second semester must complete the honors project if they apply to college with honors English on their transcript. Please check your schedule to make sure you are enrolled in CP if you wish to be enrolled in CP or honors if you wish to complete the AP portfolio in English. You may not drop the honors designation after you apply to college with it on your transcript. Any changes should be made now with your guidance counselor before applications are sent out! Thank you! : )
