  • National Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 and ends on October 15. In honor a Fun Fact about Hispanic Heritage will be placed in the Afternoon Announcements.. We will also be sharing announcements submitted by students about influential Latinx People.
    • Today's Fact-                                                                                                     National Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 because it coincides with the national independence days for many Latin American countries, including Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
    • Frida Kahlo was a famous female Mexican painter in the mid 1900’s. She is known for her captivativating self-portraits. Some of her most famous works include “The Two Fridas,” “Frida and Diego Rivera” and “The Wounded Deer.” Her paintings included themes around nature, death, the body and oneself. At 22 she married Diego Rivera, an established artist known for his murals and fresco painting in modern art and architecture. They stayed married until Kahlo's death, for 25 years. She died on July 13, 1954. Frida Kahlo was a very important person in the Latinx community who is remembered all around the world. Submitted by Magdalene Marcus

  • Last week, France canceled a gala celebrating the long standing friendship between themselves and the United States due to their anger over the US making a deal with Australia. What deal did they make? Write your answer on a slip of paper and put it in the submission box located in Ms. Bourbeau’s room (325). All correct answers will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win an exciting prize from ARHS Model UN. And, to delve into more fun and fascinating topics in global affairs, debate in a low stakes environment, attend engaging conferences, and join a great community, come to Model UN’s first meeting this Wednesday at 3:45 in Ms. Bourbeau’s room (325). There will be snacks! Even if you’ve never come before, we’d love to see you come this Wednesday! If you have any questions, email Kyle Crosby (crosbyak@arps.org), Quinn Schein (scheinqf@arps.org), or Mira Setty-Charity (settycharityma@arps.org).
